Concept
As the first rest stop and primary water supply point along the Qilai Mountain Range, the project rethinks the mountain hut as a lightweight, sustainable, and site-responsive system.
Material
Local, biodegradable materials are selected to minimize environmental impact, emphasizing light construction and the ability to naturally decompose at the end of the hut’s lifecycle.
Function
The hut provides essential rest, accommodation, and water support, ensuring long-term operation while reducing pressure on the surrounding alpine environment.

Structural Detail
Concept
The project pursues material lightness and locality by rethinking structural connections as an integral part of sustainable mountain hut design.
System
Japanese timber joinery is used for structural joints, minimizing metal connectors and enabling modular construction from the earliest design stages.
Benefit
Optimized dimensions and site-appropriate materials reduce environmental impact, enhance constructability, and support long-term, locally grounded sustainability.
